Half Term Plans for each age range

Our Playgroup and Nursery provide continuous learning for all of our children aged 2 to 4+ years.

Our youngest children are taught in small groups of up to 5 in our Playgroup building. As children turn 3, they move in to groups of up to 8 children.

Children in our Playgroup are usually two years of age and may turn three just before they move over to our Nursery Classes

Children usually move over to our Nursery building the term after they turn 3 and they are usually taught in Class 1 to begin with as they transition over to the main Nursery curriculum.

Children move in to other classes in the Nursery building during the year they turn 4 years of age, before they head off for their Reception classes in Primary Schools. This year, we have 3 classes of 4-year-olds who will be moving to Reception in September 2025.

Each of these age groups (PG/Class 1 and N2) follow their own curriculum, suitable for their age and developmental stage. Staff in each of the three age groups plan together to provide a curriculum that is organised carefully to build on children's previous learning, knowledge, skills and understanding. We have target plans for each Year Group, that we set annually, then they are broken down in to smaller steps each half term so that children gradually learn and develop their skills over time. An example of our half term plans is shown below. They outline what we aim for children to learn each half term...

Our main Nursery children are turning 4 before September 2025 and during each half term, we aim for them to achieve the following goals:
